New high-tech flagship of the brand – the Audi A8 L

Audi’s flagship A8 range is about to get a new top model – the A8 L, which launches this autumn and which sets a new standard in luxury motoring.

It’s several inches longer than the standard model, which means more room for the rear seat passengers – who now also have the option of ventilation and massage functions, a folding table and a cool box, and a rear seat entertainment system.

The interior features new, light lines, with a craftsman’s level of fit and finish and with extraordinary attention to the smallest of details. The comfort on board is first class – from the ambient lighting to the four-zone automatic climate control system.

Audi also offers a number of multimedia modules, including a high-end sound system from Bang & Olufsen and advanced online services. In fact, the A8 L is the first car in the world to be available with an integrated WLAN hotspot.

The optional navigation plus system is integrated with the car’s assistance and safety systems.  It reads the road ahead and provides the data to the control units for the automatic transmission, headlights and adaptive cruise control.  The navigation destination can be entered by tracing the letters on a touch-pad with a finger.

The new A8 L will feature a choice of five engines: two TDI diesel and three FSI petrol units, starting with a 3-litre V6 in both formats. They all feature increased power and torque, while fuel consumption has improved by up to 22%. 

The transmission also plays a major role in the efficiency of the A8 L as well. The eight-speed tiptronic has a high overall gear ratio and is controlled electronically using either the selector lever or paddles on the steering wheel. The quattro permanent all-wheel drive has a distinctly sporty and rear-biased character.

The new Audi A8 L offers both luxurious ride comfort and sporty handling. It embodies the Vorsprung durch Technik for which Audi is renowned, in a design of classic, timeless elegance.
