The Audi R8 is powered by a 4.2-litre FSI engine with eight cylinders in 'V' formation. The Audi R8's engine is mid-mounted low down between the axles, which gives it a low centre of gravity and helps it to achieve the ideal weight balance. The lightweight Audi Space Frame gives the R8 driving dynamics of extraordinary precision and superb road behaviour - this doesn't come at the expense of safety, as the car's body remains tough and beautifully balanced.

The R8 powers from 0 to 62mph in just 4.6 seconds with either the manual or R tronic transmissions. Its top speed is 187mph and max revs at 8,250rpm with the pistons moving 1,000 times a second and air combusting 500 times a second.
